Lake Bala, 29th Sept - 1st Oct 2023
We’ve decided it’s time to try somewhere different. For the last couple of years we’ve had rather shabby treatment at the caravan site which is the launch point for the Inland Sea at Anglesey, so it’s time for us to move on!
One of our members has stayed at this campsite mid-way along Lake Bala, North Wales and we know others who like windsurfing on this lake. As with anywhere, there are no guarantees with wind, so it’s for you to decide whether to commit early to be sure of getting on the site but risk not having wind, or wait until a few days before and if wind is forecast to then see where you can stay. There’s a daily £5 permit fee for watersports on Bala. In addition, to launch from the Pant Yr Onnen campsite, the owners charge £12.50 if you’re not staying there, which includes toilets and showers (extra 50p). If you are staying, but due to leave that day, then £12.50 covers you to stay until 6pm. The lake works best with a South West wind, as that blows straight along it. Unlike the Inland Sea, you won’t be in your depth. The flip side is that it suits foils as well as fins and we don’t need to consider tide heights and times.
Nearer to the date members can exchange messages on our Shoutbox and on the Club Facebook page to see who’s going and where they are planning to stay, or as usual, let us know your thoughts anytime!
